Funky studio flat, just watch out for excess fees Positive: Beautiful apartment - looked just like the photos and I loved the funky 70s vibe (even a lava lamp!). Very well-equipped kitchen for its size; I had everything needed to cook a simple meal. Clean space, comfortable bed and fab shower. Kept cool in warm weather. Also relieved there was a hairdryer despite this not being listed in facilities! Great location - situated on a very peaceful leafy avenue but with Penarth's main street only 5 mins walk away. Plenty of easy street parking to choose from (although would have preferred to receive the info about this earlier than the day of travel for my peace of mind!). Negative: BEWARE HIDDEN CHARGES: Despite being pet-friendly and the details of this not listed on Booking.com for some reason, there is a £10 per pet PER DAY additional fee; wasn't so bad for me adding £20 for a 2-night stay (although it would have been nice to be made aware prior to booking), but I'd have been seriously unimpressed had I been staying, say, 10 nights and had £100 unexpectedly whacked onto my bill to bring my tiny dog along. Also where it said you can request late check-out I expected this to mean a bit of flexibility where circumstances allow, e.g. no adjacent booking, but just means you can pay an extra £20 for the privilege of staying til 11am (which I wouldn't even consider "late" as it's the standard at many places), which is ridiculous. A £100 deposit was also reserved on my card but has since been released. I was baffled that the wi-fi code is not provided anywhere at the property (in fact there is no welcome book or info of any kind). It's given in an online portal, but this is no good when you turn up and have no signal to access it (I couldn't get a network connection anywhere during my whole time in Penarth!). Couldn't get the TV to work at all; it would be nice to have access to even just a few basic free channels. Saying all this, I would still stay at the property again if I were visiting Penarth in future, especially now that I know what to expect; it's just disappointing that more information isn't provided upfront, as this could be easily rectified.

A superb place to stay that is much better than any average three to four star hotels in the UK Positive: The studio was extremely well equipped with all essentials, clean and centrally located. The seatings and mattress were very comfortable. The communication was timely and consistent. The decor was stylish and uplifting. Negative: Hardly anything except from: the direction around how to find the front door was not presented upfront in the guide but left to the parking paragraphs at the bottom.
